K-Beauty’s New ‘Home Spa’ Boom: Hair, Hand and Pore Masks Surge at Olive Young

K-beauty’s next big trend may be moving beyond the face.

New shopping data from CJ Olive Young shows Korean beauty consumers increasingly searching for products that bring a more specialized “home spa” experience into their everyday routines.

During Olive Young’s latest September sale, searches for hair masks jumped 68% from a year earlier, while searches for hand masks rose 69%.

🧖‍♀️ K-Beauty’s “Home Spa” Trend Is Growing

Face masks have long been one of the most recognizable parts of Korean skincare, but the category is expanding.

Consumers are increasingly looking for targeted products designed for different parts of the body — including hair and hands — rather than limiting intensive treatments to facial skincare.

Olive Young’s data suggests shoppers are building more detailed self-care routines at home, choosing products based on specific concerns and areas they want to treat.

💆 Hair mask searches: +68%

🖐️ Hand mask searches: +69%

🫧 Pore-absorbing mask searches: About 5× higher

♨️ Heated mask searches: More than doubled

📅 Data period: Aug. 30 – Sept. 5, 2026

🫧 Pore Care Is Getting Much More Specific

The shift is happening within facial skincare too.

Instead of shopping only for moisturizing or soothing masks, consumers are increasingly looking for products designed around specific concerns such as sebum, pores and impurities.

One of the biggest jumps came from pore-absorbing masks designed to draw out sebum and impurities.

Searches for those products increased by roughly five times compared with the same period last year.

Heated masks — which use warmth as part of the cleansing experience — also saw searches more than double.

🎀 Hello Kitty Is Part of the Beauty Boom Too

Product function wasn’t the only thing driving shoppers.

Character collaborations also attracted significant attention during the sale.

Olive Young launched a major collaboration with Sanrio Characters, and on the first day of the sale, “Sanrio” and “Hello Kitty” ranked among the top three search terms on Olive Young’s online store.

The popularity points to another increasingly visible K-beauty trend: consumers aren't necessarily choosing products based on skincare performance alone.

Packaging, characters, collectibles and personal taste are becoming part of the shopping experience too.

From Skincare Routine to At-Home Beauty Ritual

The numbers suggest that the familiar multi-step Korean skincare routine may be evolving into something broader.

Hair treatments, hand care, pore treatments and specialized masks can all become part of the same self-care routine — effectively creating a mini spa experience without leaving home.

That could make “home spa” one of the K-beauty trends worth watching well beyond this year's Olive Young sale.

🌎 And the Trend Isn't Limited to Korea

Olive Young is increasingly putting these categories in front of international shoppers as well.

Its current global and U.S. selections include products ranging from hair masks and pore-focused skincare to specialized masks and wellness-oriented products.

As K-beauty continues expanding internationally, the next viral Korean beauty product might not be another serum or toner.

It could be the product that turns your bathroom into a mini Korean spa.
