Kim Nam-gil and Chun Woo-hee Return as Hosts of the 2026 Buil Film Awards

Kim Nam-gil and Chun Woo-hee are reuniting on stage as the faces of one of South Korea’s most established film awards.

The two actors have officially been confirmed as co-hosts of the 35th Buil Film Awards, marking their second consecutive year leading the ceremony together.

Kim Nam-gil and Chun Woo-hee Return as Co-Hosts

The 2026 Buil Film Awards will take place on October 7 at the Signiel Busan Grand Ballroom in Haeundae, Busan.

Kim Nam-gil and Chun Woo-hee previously hosted the 34th ceremony together in 2025 and are returning after receiving attention for their smooth chemistry on stage.

Their connection goes back even further. The two actors worked together in the 2017 film “One Day,” before eventually reuniting as awards-show hosts.

Some of Korea’s Biggest Films Are Competing

The hosts are not the only reason this year's ceremony is attracting attention.

Park Chan-wook’s “No Other Choice” leads the 2026 nominations with nine nominations, including Best Film and Best Director.

Na Hong-jin’s “HOPE” follows closely with eight nominations, while Yoon Ga-eun’s “The World of Love” and Jang Hang-jun’s “The King’s Warden” received six nominations each.

Park Ji-hoon Could Have a Big Night

Another name to watch is Park Ji-hoon.

His performance in “The King’s Warden” earned him nominations for Best Actor, Best New Actor and the Star of the Year Award, giving him a chance to emerge as one of the ceremony’s biggest winners.

Lee Byung-hun and Yeom Hye-ran Are Also in the Race

Lee Byung-hun, who won Best Actor at last year's Buil Film Awards for “The Match,” is back in contention with “No Other Choice.”

Yeom Hye-ran also has an unusual opportunity this year, receiving a Best Actress nomination for “My Name Is” as well as a Best Supporting Actress nomination for “No Other Choice.”

A Major Night for Korean Cinema

First launched in 1958, the Buil Film Awards has a long history within South Korea’s film industry. This year's ceremony marks its 35th edition.

The event will include a red carpet, backstage interviews, the main awards ceremony and an open talk featuring winners of the Star of the Year Award.

The entire event is scheduled to stream live exclusively through Naver CHZZK.

The 35th Buil Film Awards will be held on Wednesday, October 7 at 4:30 p.m. KST at the Signiel Busan Grand Ballroom in Haeundae-gu, Busan.

With Kim Nam-gil and Chun Woo-hee returning as hosts and some of the year's most talked-about Korean films competing for major prizes, the ceremony is shaping up to be an important night for Korean cinema.
