IU is officially returning with new music on September 10.
EDAM Entertainment has confirmed that the singer-songwriter will release a new digital single on September 10 at 6 p.m. KST, marking her first new music release in a year.
IU’s New Single Arrives September 10
The comeback was announced through a surprise teaser released on IU’s official social media channels.
The teaser features a retro computer-style visual, with a crescent moon, orbital imagery and a glowing sphere before revealing the release date: 2026.09.10 6PM KST.
As of now, the title of the song has not been officially revealed.
Exactly One Year After “Bye, Summer”
The timing is especially meaningful for fans.
IU’s previous digital single, “Bye, Summer,” was released on September 10, 2025.
Her upcoming single will arrive exactly one year later on the same date.
“Bye, Summer” was released without much advance notice, making the new teaser-driven rollout feel like a deliberate callback to last year’s surprise release.
The Teaser Music May Have Appeared Before
Fans also noticed something familiar about the music used in the teaser.
The same audio had briefly appeared in an IU YouTube video released in late August, prompting speculation at the time that the background music could be connected to an upcoming release.
That speculation now appears to have been well founded, although EDAM has not yet confirmed the song title, genre or full concept.
IU’s Return Comes After a Difficult Stretch
The new single also arrives after IU was forced to postpone parts of her schedule due to health issues.
Her agency previously announced that planned concerts were canceled and her sixth studio album was delayed after a flare-up of a longstanding ear condition.
No new date for the full-length album has been announced yet.
That makes this digital single particularly meaningful as IU’s first official musical return since those changes to her schedule.
