ICHILLIN’ Launches First Subunit ICHILLIN’ J With ‘BANANA (Look At Me!)’

ICHILLIN’ is entering a new chapter with the group’s first-ever subunit.

ICHILLIN’ J — featuring E.JI, JOONIE and YEJU — officially debuted on September 2 with the digital single “Look At Me!”

ICHILLIN’ J marks the first unit project since ICHILLIN’ made its debut in 2021.

The three-member lineup brings together E.JI, JOONIE and YEJU, giving the members an opportunity to show a different musical color from ICHILLIN’s full-group releases.

According to KM Entertainment, the project centers on the excitement and freedom of youth as the members chase their dreams together.

“BANANA (Look At Me!)” Leads the Debut

The new digital single contains two tracks: “BANANA (Look At Me!)” and “Runaway.”

“BANANA (Look At Me!)” serves as the title track, combining an upbeat band sound with an addictive melody designed to highlight the trio’s bright energy.

JOONIE also participated in writing the lyrics for the title track, adding another personal element to the unit’s debut.

A Playful Performance Concept

The performance includes choreography that plays with both the song’s title and the Korean phrase “look at me,” giving the track a playful visual hook.

YEJU explained ahead of the release that fans can look for movements throughout the choreography that creatively connect with the lyrics.

“Runaway” Shows Another Side of the Trio

The second track, “Runaway,” takes a more easy-listening approach and provides a contrast to the energetic title song.

Together, the two tracks introduce the musical identity ICHILLIN’ J hopes to establish while still connecting the project to the larger ICHILLIN’ group.

ICHILLIN’s First Unit Experiment

For the members, the debut also carries extra meaning because it is the group's first attempt at unit promotions.

E.JI said the members feel a sense of responsibility as ICHILLIN’s first unit, while JOONIE emphasized that the project was prepared to show their individual personalities more clearly.

YEJU also hopes the three-member performances will make fans even more excited to see the energy created when all seven ICHILLIN’ members perform together.

A New Chapter for ICHILLIN’

ICHILLIN’ debuted in 2021 and has continued building its catalog through releases including “FRESH,” “BITE ME,” “DEMIGOD,” “Prequel” and “WILD CHERRY.”

With ICHILLIN’ J now officially active, the new unit gives the group another way to expand its sound while putting a stronger spotlight on individual members.
