Hyun Bin and Jung Woo-sung Return for a More Intense ‘Made in Korea 2’

Hyun Bin and Jung Woo-sung are preparing for an even bigger battle in “Made in Korea 2.”

The stars joined director Woo Min-ho and the cast of the Disney+ Korean series at a press conference in Seoul on September 2, offering a new look at the high-stakes second season ahead of its September 9 premiere.

“Made in Korea 2” Raises the Stakes

Season 2 takes place in 1979, nine years after the events of the first season.

Hyun Bin returns as Baek Ki-tae, whose pursuit of wealth and political power has only grown stronger, while Jung Woo-sung returns as prosecutor Jang Geon-young after losing nearly everything in his attempt to stop him.

Their rivalry once again sits at the center of the story, but this time another major player is entering the conflict.

Woo Do-hwan Is Caught Between Power and Family

Woo Do-hwan plays Baek Ki-hyun, Ki-tae's younger brother, whose path increasingly puts him between his family and his own convictions.

Hyun Bin explained at the press conference that the expanded conflict made Baek Ki-tae feel more isolated this season, as the character now finds himself facing pressure from both Jang Geon-young and Baek Ki-hyun.

From a “Kids’ Fight” to an “Adult Fight”

Director Woo Min-ho offered one of the most memorable descriptions of the new season.

While Season 1 contained more individual storylines, Season 2 has been designed as one continuous narrative running across all six episodes.

Woo described the difference by comparing the first season to a fight between children and the second season to a much more serious battle between adults.

That change could make Season 2 feel more like a six-hour political thriller than a traditional episodic drama.

Hyun Bin Says the Story Goes Deeper

Expectations are especially high after the first season became Disney+'s most-watched Korean original series globally in 2025.

Hyun Bin acknowledged the pressure that comes with that success but said the new season offers a deeper story and stronger continuity between episodes.

His character has also changed. Despite already reaching a much higher position of power, Baek Ki-tae wants even more.

A Major Korean Cast Returns

Alongside Hyun Bin, Jung Woo-sung and Woo Do-hwan, the new season features Seo Eun-soo, Won Ji-an, Jung Sung-il, Roh Jae-won and Cha Hee.

Their characters become caught in the widening struggle surrounding power, revenge, loyalty and family as Korea approaches another turbulent moment in its modern history.

When Does “Made in Korea 2” Premiere?

Disney+ will release Made in Korea 2 on September 9, 2026.

The season contains six episodes, with two episodes scheduled for September 9, two more on September 16 and the final two on September 23.

With Hyun Bin and Jung Woo-sung returning to their central rivalry and Woo Do-hwan becoming increasingly important to the conflict, “Made in Korea 2” is shaping up to be one of September's major Korean drama releases.
