Pulmuone’s SteamCook Prime Air Fryer 15L has won a main award at IDEA 2026, marking a notable design achievement for the company’s home appliance business. The recognition places the Korean food maker’s kitchen-gadget lineup in a global design spotlight, according to the company.

What Pulmuone said about the award

Pulmuone said on Sept. 9 that the SteamCook Air Fryer received a main award, or Finalist, at the International Design Excellence Award 2026. The company said this is the first time one of its home appliances has won a global design award.

The award comes after Pulmuone entered the home appliance market with an air fryer launch in 2021. The company also sells kimchi refrigerators and food waste disposers.

Why the product stood out

The awarded model is the SteamCook Prime Air Fryer 15L, a large-format product that launched in March. Pulmuone said the appliance can flip multiple ingredients at the same time with a single operation and includes 54 automatic cooking menus, including rice and seasoned vegetables.

The company also highlighted two cleaning features: automatic steam cleaning, which is designed to keep the interior clean without chemical detergents, and a removable heating wire guard that allows users to clean up to the top heating element.

On the design side, Pulmuone described the product as combining an analog dial with hidden touch buttons and a fingerprint-resistant matte surface for a more refined look.

What the company said next

Kang Jae-hoon, head of Pulmuone’s Living Care Business Division, said the award matters because it reflects the competitiveness of the company’s kitchen appliances and the value they can bring to kitchen interiors.

He added that Pulmuone will keep researching functions and design from the customer’s perspective as it seeks to lead the steam air fryer market.

Why IDEA matters

Pulmuone said IDEA is organized by the Industrial Designers Society of America and is considered one of the world’s top three design awards alongside Germany’s Red Dot Design Award and iF Design Award.

The company’s win adds another example of how Korean brands are using product design as part of their broader identity in consumer categories that go beyond food.

For Pulmuone, the result also underscores how a product line that began with a 2021 air fryer launch has evolved into a more established appliance business with design ambitions attached to it.
